Barbara Boscaino Tamburro

Bar­bara Boscaino Tam­burro enjoyed a long pro­fes­sional career as a vio­lin­ist, con­duc­tor, teacher, clin­i­cian, and author. Her cred­its span four decades as a solo vio­lin­ist and free­lance artist, per­form­ing with orches­tras, opera and the­ater com­pa­nies in the United States and Europe. Bar­bara has been rec­og­nized as a mas­ter teacher and twice received the “Woman’s Achieve­ment in Edu­ca­tion Award” from Dou­glass Col­lege. She is the author of numer­ous string method books and a pub­lished arranger of string music.

In 2007, Bar­bara was hon­ored as “Woman of the Year” by the East Hanover, NJ Italian-American Asso­ci­a­tion. In that same year, she was awarded a fel­low­ship to attend The Oxbridge Teach­ing Sem­i­nar at the Uni­ver­sity of Cam­bridge, England.

In 2009, Bar­bara was given a Sum­mer Writ­ing Fel­low­ship by the Amer­i­can Asso­ci­a­tion of Uni­ver­sity Women to com­plete her lat­est book, “Great Music for String Orches­tra,” an anno­tated bib­li­og­ra­phy of string orches­tra lit­er­a­ture. Bar­bara received a Doc­tor of Arts and Let­ters from Drew Uni­ver­sity. Her acclaimed dis­ser­ta­tion on Spanish-American Artist, Manuel Ayaso, has given her oppor­tu­ni­ties to travel and lec­ture in Spain and the United States.

In 2010, Bar­bara was named “Woman of the Year” by the Cen­ter for Ital­ian and Italian-American Culture.
